Inspiration
My fascination with robotics and engineering began in high school when I joined a FIRST Robotics Competition team. The shear amount of possibilities of what a robot could do had me hooked. I was enamored with the problem of manipulating objects and moving the robot around the field. Hence, you could always find me looking at something robotics-related during school.
That robotic versatility lead me to the Robotics Engineering program at WPI, where I’ve decided to use my opportunity as an engineer to help others. My favorite robot designs are typically those centered around safety. The 2015 DARPA robotics challenge was a focal point due to its complexity, potential, and overall utility in search and rescue. Yamaha’s Motobot combined my interest in motorcycles and robotics, while allowing safe testing of new models and perhaps even racing. Shark Robotics’ Colossus fire fighting robot especially hit home as wildfires rampage across California.
Hobbies
Mentoring FRC Students
I’ve been involved with FIRST for 10 years, focusing on giving back and working to bring up the next generation of engineers. The robots and competitions are pretty cool, too.
Recently, I’ve been proud to call a few former students colleagues.
Solidworks and CAD
I seem to find SOLIDWORKS and designing objects pretty therapeutic, so I like to spend my down time finding something to design and model.
3D Printing
CAD isn’t as fun without the ability to turn models into real objects. So you can usually find my 3D printer making something at home. I have about 1800 hours at home and about 700 hours at WPI.
